*CHARLOTTE IS NOW HOME! (7/30/25)*
Charlotte is still at the hospital recovering slowly; she is finally breathing on her own but still experiencing difficulty in accepting her feeds. She is allowed to go home when she can tolerate full feeds again.
The doctors think Charlotte’s UTI might be in her kidneys so further testing will be required. They will not be able to diagnose in-patient so we will have to wait two to three weeks for follow-up appointments. They want to see if fluid is flowing backwards from the bladder into the kidneys thus causing UTI’s. We will have to wait for the current infection to clear before more testing can continue.
As we notice Charlotte’s health worsening, we wonder if she will require more frequent hospitalization. Just this month she has come near to death twice due to these new seizures. Each episode has taken a toll on Charlotte, leaving her physically drained. Also, it is difficult for our family to be split into two different places; we notice that it’s most hard on our two boys at home. Most likely, this will become our new normal as Charlotte continues to regress.
Due to her health rapidly declining, doctors have offered us different options for her quality of life. They have explained that other families in similar situations have pursued hospice. The doctors appear optimistic about Charlotte’s condition, but they are skeptical that we will be able to treat these seizures at home thus resulting in more hospital visits like this.
We ask that you will join us in fervent prayer as we seek God’s will for Charlotte. Our desire is for her to be comfortable with as little suffering as possible, but we ultimately want to follow God’s perfect plan. We take joy believing that Charlotte will be healed–whether it be earthly or heavenly–and that we will see her again. We also know that God can perform miracles beyond human comprehension to glorify Himself. However long Charlotte’s life lasts our desire is that God is ultimately glorified through this. He makes no mistakes, and He knows the plans He has for each one of us (Jeremiah 29:11). We each have been called for a special purpose; we are the instruments God uses to proclaim the Gospel, to be a testimony of His power, and to share how He is always, only good.
I will be sure to share this update about Charlotte tomorrow with the ladies at Thursday morning Bible study at Eastland Baptist Church, Orlando FL. We do our best to keep Charlotte and Sophie at the top of our prayer list. These two little ones are so so blessed to have a mother and father who are so strong in their faith.
Thank you for your updates, and may you know you have some mighty prayer warriors on your side.
Stay strong in the faith, Pam
