We are jumping on very briefly to share an update on Charlotte and Sophie. We know it has been a long time since sharing anything, but please assume no news is good news.

We are grateful Charlotte has had fewer hospital visits and her seizures have calmed down immensely. She has started a new medication for seizures, and we are so pleased to see how well it is working. She sleeps most of the day and night now, with brief awake periods in which she gives us smiles as we cuddle her. She is much quieter and doesn’t move her limbs and head much anymore. Because she has lost so much of her physical movement, we have had to increase manual stretching and massaging her to keep her limbs loose. We are currently looking into more medication for the spasticity (hypertonia) in her legs. Overall, she is still declining, and for now we are trying to keep her just as comfortable as possible until God heals her here on earth or in heaven with Him.

Sophie has been doing great with her weight gain and bottle feeding; the doctors see no need for a g-tube currently. We have noticed she has become more alert and responsive to her surroundings, and she smiles for us daily. She used to cry so frequently throughout the day and night. Her discomfort and crying kept us up for most hours of the night with her, but now she has been sleeping through most of the nights and hardly cries. We are starting to feel human again with near-normal sleep! Yay!

We wish all of you a merry Christmas while we celebrate the birth of our precious Savior. Just as Mary cradled Jesus in her arms, we too are grateful to hold both Charlotte and Sophie in our embrace this Christmas season. We don’t know how many more Christmases we will have on this earth with them, but we are so grateful we will be with them both in eternity forever. We are thankful for the birth of God’s only Son. We are thankful for the sacrifice He made on our behalf. We are thankful for the true meaning of Christmas. He is always good.
