The doctors are giving Charlotte medication for her pancreatitis, pneumonia, and pain. We think she is even feeling throat pain after she threw up so frequently; we found blood in her vomit once, and she winces when she coughs.

The doctors are treating Charlotte’s nausea with Zofran. She is not vomiting anymore, but she will probably continue to be nauseous until her pancreas heals fully. Since she was vomiting, the doctors first administered her fluids and medicines via IV and skipped feeds to help her keep everything down. Before we can be discharged, we must transition her fluids, feeds, and medicines in that order back through her g-tube without her vomiting. Today, her fluids are being transitioned, and we hope her feeds and medicines can be transitioned tomorrow.

We and the doctors believe her pancreatitis could have been causing her pain for some months now; Charlotte often cried when we moved her or changed her diaper, but we couldn’t diagnose it before. The doctors think the pancreatitis is a side effect caused by her seizure medication (valproic acid) that she began receiving back in the summer of 2025 to prevent her deadly atonic-like seizures. They informed us that she can no longer receive this medication as it would likely cause recurring pancreatitis, which can also be fatal. The doctors plan to increase other seizure medications she is currently using to prevent her deadly seizures.

Charlotte will remain at the hospital for several days. Thank you for all the prayers and support you have shown. Please be in prayer for Charlotte’s body to heal from this sickness and for her new seizure medication plan to prevent her deadly seizures. God is only always good.
