We are aware that several months have passed since last sharing an update with you all about the girls. Honestly, this year has been flying by, and we are trying to make the most of it spending as much time as we can with Charlotte and Sophie. If there is no post from us, it means the girls are doing well. A couple of blessings have occurred in the last few months that we would love to share with you all.
In April God gave a new medical van to our family through a fundraiser organized by David’s dad. This has been such a huge blessing for us as we are now able to transport both girls more easily to doctor appointments, events, and family visits. We are so thankful to all who donated and made this possible for our family. Thank you!
Little Sophie had G-tube surgery at the beginning of May, and she has adapted very well to tube feeding. We are very thankful recovered quickly from surgery, and she has gained weight reaching all her feeding goals. Sophie is growing quickly, thanks to being fed fully, and we are so happy to see her not struggling with trying to suck from bottles all day and night. Her favorite place to visit is church as we have witnessed her smiling, giggling (previously a very rare occurrence), and raising her arms as soon as she hears music during the service. We love seeing her come so alive and hearing her little voice. What a little encouragement and blessing this is for us to witness as her parents. Thank you, Jesus!
Sweet Charlotte has been steady and consistent for the most part. She has grown and has not experienced any life-threatening seizures in the last few months. She continues to smile for us, loves cuddles from her daddy, and sleeps a lot. We are so happy to see how content and happy she is at present. We are grateful for the time we still have with her. We were just recollecting how this time last year Charlotte nearly passed away, but God still had a plan for her here on earth. She still struggles with hip subluxation, and we are trying to help her correct this issue to give her more comfort.
A couple of prayer requests we would like to share:
- For Charlotte’s hip subluxation to correct and not cause pain or discomfort.
- For Charlotte’s hypertonia (muscles tightening/seizing) to not bother her during her awake hours.
- To figure out the correct dosage of seizure medication for Sophie so she won’t experience more breakthroughs.
- To protect both girls from choking or aspirating during the night. We have lost much sleep making sure the girls are safe with their breathing.
Thank you all so much for the continued thoughts and prayers! Each one is felt and appreciated in our home. God bless you all! We are surviving by the strength of God in our weakness, by the everlasting joy He provides when we cast our cares on Him, and by the peace which passes all understanding when we surrender to His will. He is always only good.
