6/19 Update:
The doctors want to see Charlotte breathe more on her own, so they tried to turn down the ventilator, but their attempts were unsuccessful. They have been decreasing her sedative hoping she’ll participate more for their future tests, but they are worried that she cannot breathe independently yet.
Her body temperature is running low at 94 degrees which they say is indicative of an infection. They are continuing to pull more liquid from her lungs; the doctors have concluded that she experienced seizures and aspirated at home before we found her.
They found MRSA present when they did the nasal swab test yesterday so they switched her antibiotics to one that would help fight any bacteria. The nurses say that this is more a precaution rather than a concern right now.
Neurologists said that no brain damage was detected from the CAT scan and EEG; they expect her to make a full recovery and they are positive that she hasn’t lost any of her current physical abilities. Overall, the speculation is that this is a new type of seizure that she will experience going forward and we will have to routinely monitor her.
We cannot even express our gratefulness right now for all your prayers for little Charlotte. The peace and strength from God is undeniably surrounding Charlotte and the rest of our family. God is always good!
Here are some things to pray for:
– *Most importantly* for Charlotte to breathe on her own!
– For her body temperature to rise
– For the lung infection to clear
– For the antibiotics to restrain any present bacteria
